Best Lender For
Minnesota Home Mortgages
Unfortunately, the subprime mortgage
crisis has caused dramatic changes in the lending climate. Many lending
institutions have suffered tremendous losses and as a result have
tightened their lending standards drastically. Whereas it used to be
very, very easy to meet the requirements in order to get approved, it is
now much more difficult with most lenders.
When searching for a home mortgage loan in Minnesota, it is
important to find one that not only offers the lowest rates, but also
has not tightened lending standards to the point that only a tiny
percentage of applicants will qualify.
At the top of our list right now is ING
DIRECT Minnesota Home Mortgage. They have the lowest rates, a free
and easy online application, and they have not been severely hurt by the
subprime mortgage crisis. They are still approving the majority of
applications for Minnesota home mortgage loans. Also, when you fill out
an application online, they will issue an approval within 3 minutes in
most instances.
Minnesota Overview &
Statistics
State Overview
Minnesota is located in the Midwestern region of
the United States. The 12th-largest state by area in the U.S.,
it is the 21st most populous, with just over five million
residents. Minnesota was carved out of the eastern half of the
Minnesota Territory and admitted to the Union as the 32nd state
on May 11, 1858. The state is known as the "Land of 10,000
Lakes"; those lakes and the other waters for which the state is
named, together with state and national forests and parks, offer
residents and tourists a variety of outdoor recreational
opportunities.
Minnesota is the northernmost state outside of Alaska; its
isolated Northwest Angle in Lake of the Woods is the only part
of the 48 contiguous states lying north of the 49th Parallel.
Minnesota is in the U.S. region known as the Upper Midwest. The
state shares a Lake Superior water border with Michigan and
Wisconsin on the northeast; the remainder of the eastern border
is with Wisconsin. Iowa is to the south, North Dakota and South
Dakota are west, and the Canadian provinces of Ontario and
Manitoba are north. With 87,014 square miles, or approximately
2.25% of the United States, Minnesota is the 12th largest state.
Minnesota contains some of the oldest rocks found on earth,
gneisses some 3.6 billion years old, or 80% as old as the
planet. About 2.7 billion years ago, basaltic lava poured out of
cracks in the floor of the primordial ocean; the remains of this
volcanic rock formed the Canadian Shield in northeast Minnesota.
The roots of these volcanic mountains and the action of
Precambrian seas formed the Iron Range of northern Minnesota.
Following a period of volcanism 1.1 billion years ago,
Minnesota's geological activity has been more subdued, with no
volcanism or mountain formation, but with repeated incursions of
the sea which left behind multiple strata of sedimentary rock.
